Follow the Blade | Yasha: Legends of the Demon Blade Demo Review

A new roguelite is coming out next week, so now is the best time to check out the demo

Follow the Blade | Yasha: Legends of the Demon Blade Demo Review

Jump into the Edo period and slash through hordes of demons while you master the demon blade. Yasha: Legends of the Demon Blade is a rougelite that allows you to dive in as one of three unique fighters. Pick between an immortal ninja, Oni emissary, or demon samurai as you destroy enemies blocking your path. Explore a beautiful landscape inspired by ancient Japan and take on the first three bosses in this demo.

The movement feels fluid, and the attacks are incredibly satisfying to pull off. The difference in attacks makes all three characters feel truly their own. From a duel wielder, to a katana user, to a bow user, everyone will be able to find someone to blend with.

It is easy to tell that there is a deep story that the demo only touches the surface off. Some tale connecting the story of the Nine-Tailed Fox and the demons spreading out across the realm. Since we only get the first three bosses, we really don’t get to taste the story a lot, but I can already tell that there is an epic story waiting in the full game. Each boss has a special attack style that makes them stand out from any other enemy in the game. I love the amount of details in each of the fights and how the challenge level scales. This game is a nice challenge. The mobs are simple, hit them a handful of time and they all die. It’s a satisfying loop of killing off swarms in seconds and taking your time with fighting those bosses.

Since this is a rougelite, there are rooms to clear. In the middle of the run, you are able to shop around and buy some goodies. From getting a bit of lost health back to getting some buff, look around and talk to the merchants before jumping back into the fighting.

With the promise of unveiling some mysterious hidden truth, Yasha: Legends of the Demon Blade is setting itself up to be an amazing game with unique stories tied to each playable character. This demo gave a great taste of what’s to come.
